DUBAI, UAE – Get your running shoes ready. Following its record-breaking debut, the Dubai Mallathon is officially returning, and it is going to be significantly bigger.
Under the direct leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, the city-wide indoor fitness initiative has been massively expanded. Moving from its original one-month test run, the Dubai Mallathon 2026 will now span an entire three months, running daily from June 15 to September 15, 2026.
The visionary initiative is designed to completely eliminate summer barriers to exercise, transforming Dubai’s world-class, air-conditioned shopping malls into safe, climate-controlled morning fitness tracks.
From a Singular Success to a Three-Month Sustainable Model
The decision to expand the Mallathon follows an incredibly successful inaugural edition that captured global attention.
- The World Record: The first edition officially entered the history books, securing a Guinness World Record for the Most Runners in a Mall Run Event after a staggering 1,392 participants competed in a single race at Dubai Hills Mall.
- Massive Community Engagement: Over its initial run, the initiative drew more than 40,000 participants of all ages and nationalities, collectively logging more than 120 million steps.
- Sheikh Hamdan’s Vision: Reflecting on the growth, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that sports in Dubai have evolved into a common language and a lifestyle. The three-month extension ensures that sustainable health habits are built directly into residents’ daily summer routines.
What to Expect: Tracks, Times, and Distances
The mechanics of the event are structured to be entirely seamless, accessible, and social:
- The Daily Schedule: Every morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM—right before standard retail trading hours begin—the participating malls will open their doors exclusively for fitness enthusiasts.
- Tailored Tracks: Malls will feature clearly marked, secure indoor jogging and walking loops. Distances will cater to all capabilities, offering 2.5k, 5k, and 10k tracks.
- More Than Just Running: Participants can expect designated step-tracking check zones, family-friendly kids’ interactive areas, and pop-up wellness stations.
Nine Iconic Malls, One Unified Fitness Community
The 2026 city-wide movement spans nine of Dubai’s absolute premier shopping and lifestyle destinations, ensuring no resident is far from a track:
- Dubai Mall
- Mall of the Emirates
- Dubai Hills Mall
- City Centre Mirdif
- City Centre Deira
- Dubai Festival City Mall
- Dubai Marina Mall
- Dubai Festival Plaza
- Springs Souk
Completely Free: Aligning with Dubai Agenda 33
Sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and organized in close partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, participation in the Dubai Mallathon is completely free and open to everyone—including senior citizens, youth, families, and People of Determination.
The initiative heavily supports the core pillars of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which actively seek to position the emirate as a global leader in community wellbeing, social cohesion, and inclusive health.
